Caught Up! Finally! More summer fun!

OK, so we LOVE summer, but we love it so much that we do not want to waste a day of it. That translates into non-stop going & a million pictures!
We went for a visit to Dan's Aunt Margaret's house and Shane and Maddie loved spending time with her and her daughter Cathy & her son John. Margaret is Dan's dad's oldest & last living sibling. She is terrific and we loved seeing her! Cathy is hysterical & we love seeing her!

Shane played a lot of t-ball this summer and was lucky enough to have lots of people watch and cheer him on. Dan's mom & Debbie were at this game! Debbie even made fudge! This was the last game we let Maddie sit on the ground and watch. I had felt so guilty about her being dragged around everywhere with Shane, that I hated her to be stuck in our arms or the stroller. We would bring a blanket and put her on that, but Maddie would scoot off and try and eat grass. I thought I was being vigilant, but I would always find a blade of grass in her next morning's poop. Anyways, on this particular day I was there, Dan was there, Papa Carolyn was there & Debbie was there. I lifted Maddie up to take a picture on Debbie's lap and she had an odd smile. Hmmm. Did she have grass in her mouth? Nope, not grass - a rock! Yep, a rock! Thankfully she did not swallow it and all was fine. That ended Maddie's blanket days! Here are some pictures from the game. Shane had Coach Krysta a lot in the end and he loved her.

Shane loved soccer - this was his second to last soccer game. He did great! Notice Maddie is on my lap!

After the game - Shane and Ryan played in the park. They had a blast!

That night Shane had his last "official" T-ball game. He had a make up game after that one, but this one had a water fight between the kids and the coaches and then a trophy ceremony! Papa Irwin & Papa Judy came to watch. Maddie loved watching the water fight!

I love this one of him getting Coach Krista!
 Charge!!!!!!!!!!!
 Trophy Time!

Maddie thought that was worth getting out of her seat for - it was Shane's first trophy after all!
Maddie is laughing here, not crying!
 Shane & Coach Krista
 Shane & Coach Brett
Shane & Coach Dan - the head coach
Shane & his favorite coach - Daddy!
 Shane & Papa Judy
Shane's next game was a make up game. Papa Carolyn & Uncle John & Aunt Geri came out to watch! They even brought their dog Rose. Shane was so happy to have them there! He had asked Uncle John to come at Joe's game the night before (no pictures from that game - I left the camera at home :-(. ) Shane is blessed to have people in his life who will come out and support him!

Giving high fives during a water break!

 LOVE Coach Mike!

Maddie getting some time with Aunt Geri!

Coach Mike loved to pick Shane up!
Uncle John, Aunt Geri, Rose & Shane!

The next day our friend John came over. He brought cupcakes and Shane was thrilled. I forgot to take any pictures of John, but I got a shot of the cupcakes!
Those are the last of the baseball pictures for a while. Shane still had one last event for the summer - his last soccer game. It was parents versus kids. Many of the mom's had the same idea that I did - send Dad out there! Shane was super excited to play dad!

An action shot! Shane is so lucky to have such a great dad!

 LOVE THIS ONE!!!!
 Who is faster?

 Shane with his soccer ribbon!
Huddle up with Coach Bubba one last time!

Maddie in the swing after Shane's last soccer game! I love how happy my little one is!

That night Shane had a Daddy & Me class! Here he is working on his projects!

Somewhere in the craziness of the summer - Maddie turned 11 months old! Where does the time go???

Later that week we headed to Pirate's Cove with Kristine and Connor. I used to go there as a kid so it is so exciting to take Shane & Maddie there! Dan was meeting with some teachers about a presentation they are giving at the beginning of the school year so he did not join us. I love this picture of the boys on the carousel! No parents allowed so Maddie could not ride.
 On the hand pedal trains!

 So cute!
When we got to this big slide, Shane was very clear - he did not want me to come along at all! As you can see, him & Connor did just fine on their own!

 Love the smiles here!
 On the train!

 Maddie playing Peek a Boo!

Shane & Connor on the paddle boats!

 Dancing to some music!
The day we headed to Pirate's Cove was a crazy one! We went to Pirate's Cove in Elk Grove Village, headed home, met up with Dan, ggot back in the car & headed to my parents in Morton Grove for dinner! Maddie ate 19 cherries after dinner! She would have ate more, but I had to draw the line somewhere!
Shane & Aunt Jorie are best buddies!
Papa Irwin was not afraid to kiss Maddie even though she was covered in cherries!

Shane also had plenty of kisses to go around!

I love this one! Shane is madly in love with Madison & I think it really shows here!
 Daddy & his girl!
Papa Judy & her favorite people!

I love this one of Shane & Uncle Jason!

The next day we headed to my cousin Susan's for a playdate & dinner! Maddie & Asher are adorable together!
 Look holding hands!

 Asher is playing the piano!

 Cousins! I love this one!
Asher got a ride on his daddy, Justin!
 Susan & Asher!
After we left their house, we stopped at Sprinkles cupcakes for dessert! Shane was in a cupcake mood after having the yummy ones from Uncle John!
The next day was another crazy one as we had the annual Greenfield Family Picnic! Dan's mom had an opportunity to take a trip with friends so she was not there this year. We all missed Dan's dad...
Here is Liam playing with the bowling set.
Miss Maddie hanging out on the play mat!
I love this one of Bill & Julia!

Julia on the other hand was all about the Pack N Play! I love this picture of Julia & Shane kissing!
 Kathy and her foster child!
Maddie finally fell asleep in my arms and borrowed Charlotte's napper!
 Geri & Charlotte!
On August 7th we headed up to the Wisconsin State Fair. It was VERY hot, but very fun! Here is Shane in front of the giant inflatable dinosaur that we paid $4 to tour on the inside. Shane was super excited in the beginning, but got nervous once we got inside. It was not worth the money & Shane could not get out of there fast enough.

Next we moved onto the inflatables, which Shane loves!

He loved hitting the ball of the tee!

Next, we moved on to the pig races which we all enjoyed!

After the pig races we had lunch and headed to the small animal pavillion for dog diving! Shane was determined to see it! We stopped and looked at the baby ducks.
 And the baby chicks!
Then we waited an hour in the crazy heat, in a tent that did not breathe, for dog diving. It did nothing for me, but Shane & Maddie loved it!

After several $.25 glasses of milk (Dan had root beer and banana milk and Shane stuck to chocolate), we headed toward the rides! Here is Shane before the pirate ride!
Here he is on a train!
 On a boat!

 On a bear tilt-a-whirl!

On a fast roller coaster - so fast that it was too hard to get a picture!
 On the hot air balloons!

 Riding the flying elephant!

 On the cars!
Miss madison - she had to be content in our arms or in the stroller - she was too little for everything. This was her nap time so she was asleep seconds after I snapped this.
 Shane loved the ferris wheel!

 Asleep!
After the rides, we had more milk and then headed to see the sharks.

 Shane in the shark cage!
After that it was dinner and back to the hotel. We left the camera in the car, but the hotel pool was awesome - a mini waterpark for little kids! Shane and Maddie loved it after a long, hot day! We did not get to the hotel until 7:45 and the pool closed at 9 so there was no time to go back for the camera. The next day we headed home, but stopped at my friend Jami's to borrow a cake pan. She has the princess skirt pan and I am using it as a beehive for Maddie's birthday cake. Anyways, it gave me a chance to take pictures of her precious little one, Daniel!

 Jami & Maddie!

 Lilli with her little brother!
 Shane & Lilli!
We came home from Milwaukee and had a much needed date night! Joe came out and babysat!

There must be something about Joe - he babysat for Shane on the day Shane first crawled and two days after he babysat for Shane & Maddie - Madison finally officially crawled (no more swimming for her) Our little foodie crawled to her bottle. As of 8/13 she is only crawling - no more swimming!

OK, here is one last picture - Dan & Shane goofing off! Shane is going to be so sad when Dan goes back to work. He loves to say, "Daddy spoils me!" It is so true! As I type this - they are off having milkshakes and then seeing a movie!
OK, the kids want to wish Papa Judy a happy 70th birthday, my friend Jami a happy birthday, and of course Maddie a happy 1st birthday!!!!
